What is Migraine?-

A recurrent throbbing headache that typically affects one side of the head and is often accompanied by nausea and disturbed vision is known as Migrain. It has now become a common disease that any type of pain in head, not cured in time, is being called migraine. It is also known as muscular headache. It is a strong headache that often comes with nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light. It can last for hours or days. The pain can move from one side of the head to the other, can be in the front of the head, or can feel like it’s affecting the entire head.

Migraine is a predominantly female disorder as it is 2–3 times more prevalent in women as compared with men. Scientific studies shows that until puberty, migraine affects both sexes equally. However, after the menarche there is an increasing prevalence of migraine in women. It is believed that menarche, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, and also the use of hormonal contraceptives and hormone replacement treatment (HRM) may influence migraine occurrence. 

However, doctors don’t know the exact cause of migraine headaches, although they seem to be related to changes in your brain to your genes, or emotional stress, hormonal imbalance, change in sleep pattern, too much medication etc. 

Types of migraine-

  1. Migraine with high blood pressure
  2. Migraine with low blood pressure
  3. Migraine with normal blood pressure

Other reasons of Headache-

Pain in the head is a symptom common to many illnesses.

  • There may be a cyst in the brain.
  • Excess heat in the gall bladder.
  • Constipation and gastric problem.
  • Menstrual problem in the ladies.
  • Frequent change in blood pressure may also lead to headache/migraine.
