Introduction

Adenopathy is a word used for swelling of the glands, which releases chemicals like sweat, tears and hormones.

Adenopathy typically refers to the swollen lymph nodes.

Lymph nodes aren’t technically glands,, because they don’t produce and release chemicals. However, people often refer to lymphadenopathy as “swollen glands”.  

These lymph nodes are important part of the immune system. They filters harmful substances and fluids through them. The main role is to help our body tissues and bacterias to provide with the white blood cells (WBCs). They help our body to fight with the infections and disease in our body. The nodes are fill up with immune cells, viruses or bacterias and fluid which make them bigger than usual.

How to identify swollen lymph nodes.

We have hundreds of lymph nodes in our body. The groups of nodes near the skin can be felt in your neck, armpits, back of your head, belly and groin areas.

How to feel swollen nodes.

  1. Pea or Bean size lymph under the skin.
  2. Tenderness or soreness when you touch them.
  3. Redness and warmth of the skin over the swollen nodes.

Other symptoms.

  1. Running nose
  2. Sore throat
  3. Earache
  4. Fever
  5. Tiredness
  6. Once the infection velar up, our lymph nodes go back to normal.

When to contact doctor.

  1. Swollen lymph nodes on body.
  2. Nodes swollen more than two weeks.
  3. Weight loss.
  4. Night sweating .
  5.  Long lasting fever.
